Are you registered with DEFRA as a horse transporter?
Yes, We are registered with DEFRA as a type 1 horse transporter for up to 8 hours and holder of certificate in animal transport. All documentation will be carried on board at all times.
Should I provide my own hay?
Yes, we find this is the best way to prevent infectious diseases and ensures your horse has the hay they like and used to. (Please note that if you are using one of our own haynets they are disinfected after use to maintain bio security).
What if my horse will not load? It is normal for a horse to be reluctant to load but with a bit of encouragement and lots of patience we are normally successful in loading. On a rare occasion we may ask for a vet to be called to sedate the horse to minimise the stress of loading. If you know that loading may be an issue it is important to inform us so that we can allow extra time.
Can I travel in the horsebox?
Yes but over 18's only unless accompanied by an adult. (please be aware you travel at your own risk)
Will I be told what time my horse will arrive?
We will of course give you an estimated time of arrival but is subject to events out of our control, this normally is due to traffic delays, We will contact you when it is safe and legal to do so to keep you updated.
Will you bring my horses belongings along too?
Yes but is limited to tack, rugs and grooming kits due to weight restrictions. (all belongings travel at your own risk)
My horse does not have any travel boots. Do you supply them?
No, as in our experience, the wrong size or badly fitting travel boots can cause more harm than good as they will have a tendency to slip around their feet causing distress, especially if your horse/pony is not used to wearing them.
My horse needs to go to the vets but I can't be there.
No problem. We can either wait at the vets for you, ready for when your horse is ready to come home (Waiting time may apply) or we can call back when your horse is ready to go home.
Is my horse insured by On Point Equine Transport? As a professional horse transporter we have a legal obligation to make sure we are adequately insured for all eventualities. We hold Care, Custody and Control insurance along with Public Liability and Hire and Reward insurance.
However it is your responsibility to ensure your horse is insured for travel.
Do I need the horses passport to travel?
Yes. By law your horse(s) passport must accompany them whenever they are being transported. (please note that we can not accept any horse for transport without it) The only exception to this is if the horse is being transported for emergency treatment.
